In-chat payments let you collect money from customers without ever breaking the conversation. During a live chat, an agent or an automated flow can send a secure payment link directly inside the chat window. The customer completes the checkout without being redirected to another page, tab, or external site. Keeping the payment inside the conversation removes friction at the moment of purchase. KonnectBot customers have seen conversion rates increase by up to 40% compared to sending customers away to a separate checkout page.

How it works

When you are ready to collect payment from a customer, you or your AI assistant sends a payment request inside the chat. A secure checkout form appears in the conversation. The customer enters their payment details and confirms — all without leaving the chat. Once payment is confirmed, both the agent and the customer see a receipt confirmation in the conversation thread. The conversation can continue immediately after checkout.
In-chat payments use PCI-compliant infrastructure. Cardholder data is handled according to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), so you do not need to build or maintain your own secure payment handling.

Sending a payment request

During an active conversation, you can send a payment request in two ways: From the agent chat interface:
  1. Open the conversation in your KonnectBot workspace.
  2. Click the Payment icon in the chat toolbar (or use the + menu to find it).
  3. Enter the amount, a brief description of what the customer is paying for, and any reference number.
  4. Click Send payment link. The secure checkout appears in the chat for the customer.
Via an automation flow: You can configure a flow to send a payment link automatically as part of a sales or upgrade path. Add a Payment node to any flow and set the amount and description. When the flow reaches that step, it sends the payment request without any agent action required.
Use the AI assistant to send payment links automatically as part of a flow. For example, when a customer asks to upgrade their subscription, the AI can qualify the request, confirm the plan, and send a payment link — completing the sale without requiring an agent to intervene.

Why in-chat payments increase conversions

No redirects

Customers stay in the conversation throughout the entire purchase. Redirecting to a separate page introduces drop-off — especially on mobile.

Context-rich checkout

The agent is still present during checkout. Customers can ask questions, confirm details, or change their order before they pay.

Instant confirmation

Payment confirmation appears in the chat immediately. Customers feel confident and the agent can follow up right away.

By removing friction between the sales conversation and the purchase, in-chat payments consistently outperform external checkout links.

Plan availability

In-chat payments are not available on Free or Starter plans. You must be on the Pro plan or above to use this feature. If your workspace is on Free or Starter and you attempt to send a payment request, the option will not appear in the chat toolbar. Upgrade your plan to unlock in-chat payments.
In-chat payments and store integrations (Shopify and WooCommerce) are both available starting on the Pro plan. Enterprise and Custom plans also include in-chat payments.
